Gastroenterologist / Hepatologist
Dr Cathal McGowan is a Gastroenterologist currently undertaking further dedicated training in interventional and third space endoscopy at Royal Perth Hospital.
He graduated from University College Dublin and completed his gastroenterology training across Queensland. He undertook an advanced endoscopy fellowship at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2025. He is accredited in colonoscopy and gastroscopy by the Conjoint Committee in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr McGowan has a strong interest in quality therapeutic endoscopy, particularly endoscopic resection techniques. He is actively involved in research, with presentations at national meetings and contributions to peer-reviewed gastroenterology literature.
He is committed to providing safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
