Dr Niroshan Muwanwella is a consultant gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist who also holds a public appointment at Royal Perth Hospital (RPH).
He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and has completed two interventional endoscopy fellowships including a year at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, Canada.
Dr Muwanwella performs procedures at the gastroenterology unit at Hollywood Private Hospital. He is a firm believer in a process of informed consent for gastroenterological procedures and spends time explaining procedure details and adverse effects to his patients. He performs diagnostic gastroscopy and colonoscopy including bowel cancer screening. He also performs therapeutic Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) for Barrett’s Mucosa including early oesophageal adenocarcinoma. In addition he treats complex colonic polyps and Laterally Spreading Tumours (LST) with Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR).
Prof Krish Ragunath is a UK trained Gastroenterologist and has a wealth of experience over two decades treating all gastroenterological disorders. Krish started his clinical academic career in 2003 at Nottingham University Hospital, UK. After having established a centre of excellence in Endoscopy at Nottingham he moved to Australia in 2019 under the Global Talent initiative. He is currently Professor of Medicine at Curtin University Medical School, and Consultant Gastroenterologist at Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia. His clinical and research interests include advanced endoscopic imaging of the GI Tract, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Barrett’s oesophagus and minimally invasive endoscopic therapy of early GI neoplasia. He has co-edited the BSG Barrett's oesophagus guidelines, Quality
standards in upper GI endoscopy, Guidelines for the management of gastric premalignant conditions and UK oesophageal dilatation guidelines. Has authored/co-authored 150 peer reviewed publications and text book chapters. He is Endoscopy Faculty member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia, Associate Editor for ‘Digestive Endoscopy’ journal, International member of the Editorial Board for 'Endoscopy', 'Gastrointestinal Endoscopy', and Translational Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals. He was the recipient of the British Society of Gastroenterology, Hopkins Endoscopy Prize 2010.
Dr Malik Janjua is an adult gastroenterologist and hepatologist who has received training at numerous institutions, both locally and overseas.
He completed his basic physician training and subsequently advanced training in gastroenterology and hepatology in Perth. Following this, he completed two clinical and research fellowships in inflammatory bowel disease, one at Royal Perth Hospital and the other at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, United Kingdom.
He has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease, the management of Coeliac disease and colorectal cancer screening. He has accreditation in colonoscopy, gastroscopy and capsule endoscopy from the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.
Dr Jacob Ooi is an adult gastroenterologist who manages all gastroenterological and hepatological conditions. He has completed clinical and reasearch fellowships at Royal Adelaide Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner. He has a wide area of interest including general gastroenterology as well as chronic liver disease management. He is a CCTRGE certified endoscopist who is very comitted to providing high quality endoscopic procedures (Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy) for his patients. He is a member of Royal Australasian College of Physician and Gastroenterological Society of Australia.
He is a very approachable and experienced clinician who is committed to delivering comprehensive patient focused care.
Ele is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a special interest in providing evidence-based care to patients affected by gastrointestinal conditions.
She runs the Dietetic Gut Clinic, a Perth-based private practice with a special focus on diet and gastrointestinal health and disease. She is a PhD Candidate at Edith Cowan University exploring the role of diet and microbiome in gastrointestinal health and disease.
Ele has undergone additional training via Monash University on the provision of the Low FODMAP diet for IBS.
She is a member of the Dietitian Crohn's Colitis Australian Network (DECCAN) and the Vice Convenor of the National DA Gastrointestinal Interest Group Committee.
Ele is passionate about using a whole-food approach to help people achieve their health and wellness goals.
